Everyone is sad to hear about the disappearance of Dr. Ramsey.

X60 Ollie Undercover

[G-F #33: A Promise Kept]

Dr. Nicholas Ramsey and his team from the ISO have been sent out to the Arctic to check out reports of violent tides in the area. Dr. Ramsey is an expert in Oceanography. But a green glowing spike emerges from the waters. The ISO’s boat cannot avoid it.

Dr. Keane tells the team that the ship has disappeared. Ollie is certain the Vorak are involved. Dr. Keane agrees, since the Vorak have a habit of abducting ISO scientists. Dr. Keane tells the team that several sailors in the area spotted a gigantic ‘horn’. Dr. Keane wants to send in one of the Eagle Riders undercover to investigate.

Mickey wants to do it, but Joe laughs and tells the youth that he will be going instead. In a strange twist from the usual, Dr. Keane tells Joe that the mission is too dangerous for him, and they need to send in someone who will not stick out, as the Vorak have probably infiltrated the entire area. Ollie is best suited to blend in with the people from the area, as he is the only one who is a genuine sailor. Everyone is astounded when they hear this, but Hunter belatedly tells Ollie that he’s sure Ollie will do a good job. Way to raise Ollie’s confidence, Hunter!

The last place Ramsey’s ship docked was a harbor town named Barton. Ollie goes there in disguise, excited to be ‘undercover’. But he is soon bored, as nothing is happening. As he is staring out at the waves, a little girl runs by. She is being chased by four large men (seriously, they’re nearly twice as tall as Ollie), and she hides in some crates. Ollie doesn’t give her away, but approaches her when the men have gone. She is terrified.

Ollie tells the girl that the men have gone and that he won’t hurt her.

“See, I have a trustworthy face, and I’m really strong so I can protect you from those guys that were chasing you!” he says with a cheesy grin. The girl reluctantly emerges, and Ollie asks why the men were chasing her. But the girl won’t speak to him. Suddenly, she begins sobbing and throws herself into Ollie’s arms.

The girl’s name is Annie and she takes Ollie to her apartment. She lives there with her father, but he was lost at sea and hasn’t come back. Those men are trying to kidnap her. Ollie seems to have more brains than Hunter, as he asks Annie if she isn’t too little to be living alone. She replies that her Daddy was just supposed to be gone for a couple of hours. Ollie tells Annie he will help her find her Daddy and be her own personal bodyguard. Ollie and Annie bond.

Surprise! It turns out that Annie’s dad is Nicholas Ramsey. Now after meeting Annie, Dr. Ramsey is no longer a faceless scientist to Ollie.

The Vorak are building an underwater base. Vax demands a report on the construction’s progress from Admiral Winston, but there’s only so much the Admiral can do until Vax decides on a location for the base. Vax replies that they have ‘the leading oceanographer’ under their control and they are ‘working on him’ right now. They’ll have their location soon.

Back in Barton, Annie is running again, and Ollie is not with her. The four large men chase after her, but Ollie is nearby. He spots them and follows, intervening in time to prevent them from grabbing her. Annie gets away, but listens from behind a corner as they talk to Ollie.

The men threaten Ollie, but he ignores them, asking what Annie did to the men anyway. Ollie demands that they leave Annie alone and find someone else to bully. The men punch him a couple of times, calling him ‘dumpling’, and Ollie pretends to be cowed.

Seeming out of the blue, Ollie says that he knows a lot about boats. Coincidentally, it turns out that the men’s boat engine needs repair. The men take Ollie there. No one else has been able to fix it, but they’ll let Ollie try.

As he is working, Ollie hears the men say that ‘Headquarters’ wants them to report back immediately. But they cannot do so if the boat isn’t working. They also mention that ‘Headquarters’ won’t like it if they go back without Dr. Ramsey’s daughter. The men need her to convince Ramsey to talk, and tell them where to put the new base.

Ollie starts the engine, and the men are pleased. Ollie mentions that he is also an excellent sailor, and there is a storm coming up. Ollie can get them through the storm. The men agree to let Ollie sail them through the storm, planning to eliminate him when they get back to base. Two of the men stay behind to get Annie.

Annie sees the boat leave with Ollie onboard and she feels alone, since even her bodyguard has left her.

Ollie does a terrific job navigating through the storm, and the two men with him regret that they will have to get rid of him. A giant green spike/horn appears from out of the water, causing Ollie to yell in fright. A hatch opens up in the bottom of the horn, and Ollie pilots the boat into it, under the men’s direction.

Meanwhile, Cybercon is telling Happyboy that Dr. Ramsey is one of the few humans whose intelligence he respects. As a leading oceanographer, he can help the Vorak put their submarine base in the best possible location. Cybercon wants this base completed immediately, before the Eagle Riders find out about it. Once it is in place, the Vorak can attack and have complete control of the oceans.

Annie cries, missing her Daddy. She is grabbed by the two remaining men, and taken to the Vorak Ship. Olaf informs Dr. Ramsey that the Vorak have Annie, and that Dr. Ramsey needs to cooperate.

Ollie is walking around the ship with one of the large men. He says that Ollie must be hungry, and leads him to the kitchen. But as Ollie bends over to smell the soup, the man attacks. Ollie blocks the attack with a pot lid and knocks him out. Then he contacts the other Eagle Riders, telling them that he has found Dr. Ramsey. The rest of the team rush out to Ollie’s location.

A smaller sub enters the mouth of the horn robot, which turns out to be a massive robot Shark. Since when did sharks have horns? I guess the Vorak are getting creative. The little sub holds the other two large men, and Annie. But as the three remaining men and Annie walk by, Ollie sneaks through the middle of the group and grabs her. Annie is happy and excited to see that Ollie hasn’t deserted her.

The men do a ‘quick change’ and transform into the giant androids called Gods of War. Ollie finally realizes that these men are from the Scorpius Force, but claims not to be surprised.

The lead God of War declares that he will take Ollie apart himself. But after Ollie executes a few moves, he says, “On second thought, you guys had better help me!” and all three Gods of War are after Ollie. This is not a problem, as Ollie easily defeats them, using a fire extinguisher to finish them off. Annie giggles as Ollie picks her up and places her on his shoulders.

The pair is off to find Annie’s Daddy. Ollie walks with a funny gait and Annie giggles on his shoulders as they traipse through the Vorak ship. Oops, a bunch of standard Vorak androids show up! Ollie kicks them away with his feet (his hands are holding onto Annie), while Annie slaps a goon silly. They move away again after the fight, still giggling and walking in a silly manner.

Ollie and Annie find where Dr. Ramsey is being held.

“Boy, I hate polyester!” a lone guard whines as he scratches his leg. Ollie has Annie peer out to catch the guard’s eye, then he punches the android as he rounds the corner. They open the door to Dr. Ramsey’s cell and… Annie can’t see anything, because on Ollie’s shoulders she’s higher than the doorway! Ollie bends down, and there is a joyful reunion between Annie and Dr. Ramsey.

An alarm sounds and Ollie bashes his way through a pile of Vorak androids to get them to a minisub. They escape the giant robot shark and surface.

Olaf is informed that Dr. Ramsey and his daughter have escaped, and that they had help. Olaf tells the Vorak to do whatever it takes to find them right now. The massive horned Shark robot surfaces, and it looks like the minisub is in trouble. But just as the Shark is about to attack, there is an explosion. Olaf looks up at his viewscreen.

“Not again!” Olaf moans, as the Ultra Eagle 5 comes into view.

Hunter contacts Ollie to tell him that they are all waiting for him, so Ollie instructs Dr. Ramsey to take the sub and drive Annie to safety.

“But what about you?” Ramsey asks. Rather than replying, Ollie jumps into the air, screaming ‘Eagle Mode’ and transforms. And now, we have the final shreds of secret identity ripped away, as Ollie goes to Eagle Mode in front of a giant Vorak robot. And just as I was thinking that Ollie was smart! Sigh.

Ollie lands on the Ultra Eagle 5, and Dr. Ramsey shouts that Ollie is an Eagle Rider.

“He was my bodyguard, but he was really an Eagle Rider all the time, Daddy!” Annie squeals, ensuring that Ollie’s cover is completely blown.

Ollie arrives on the Bridge of the Ultra Eagle 5, asking if everyone missed him.

“We can’t go into Delta Power without you, Ollie!” Joe reminds him. Gee, what a mushy sentiment! But the horn of the Shark bashes the Ultra Eagle 5 around a bit, and so Hunter engages Delta Power, pulls out his Phase Foil and uses the entire Ultra Eagle to fly through the Shark, destroying it in a series of fiery explosions. Olaf escapes in a tiny sub.

Annie and her Daddy wave goodbye to the departing Ultra Eagle 5, and Hunter observes that Ollie made a good friend. Ollie is especially happy that he was able to reunite Annie with her father. It makes it worthwhile defending the Global Good.
